Biography
"I was born and bred in industrial Lancashire - Accrington to be precise. When I was 13, I decided to be a reporter and was already studying shorthand and typing, taking private lessons outside school hours. My ideal was to work for the Accrington Observer and cover dog shows and report on local carnivals. I was keenly interested in photography, encouraged by my teenage friend Ian Birtwistle, and so was well on my way especially as my favourite subjects at school were English Language and English Literature. I loved socialising and would talk to anybody I met in my daily life.
I never became a reporter (journalist is the modern term) but continued on leaving school to increase my speeds in shorthand and typing at college and take certificates in my favourite subjects. I took jobs in various offices, my secretarial skills being highly valued.
By the time I met and married my dear husband and had two children, my dreams of being a journalist were in the deep recesses in my mind. However, I loved writing and as time passed I began to have letters or photos with accompanying letters published in magazines. As the years rolled by, my articles too were being accepted. Of course I had masses of rejections but as more work was accepted (a lot may I add were freebies for parish news magazines etc.,) my thoughts turned towards writing books. After all, I had my memories plus countless photos taken on holidays.
The result was "Easter in Eden," followed closely by "Cygnet Cottage Journal." Being interested in English Literature, I had written numerous poems over the years and this year compiled my own book of poems called "Poems of Love, Life and Laughter."
I hope you enjoy my work as others have, but in the meantime happy reading!"
